ABOUT US

Our aim is make live theatre, whether from an audience or participant point of view, accessible to all.

Our main objectives are to give opportunity to the community, new writers and performers and to organise activities throughtout the year.

 THE THEATRE

Once known as the Phoenix Theatre and Salford Playhouse, the theatre is in it's third incarnation. Whilst it was known as the Salford Playhouse it was home to the Salford Players, whose famous sons include Sir Ben Kingsley.

WHAT THEY SAY

What a great little venue. So compact and intimate that actors and audience are never more than a few yards from each other or from a refreshing beer in the interval. A pleasure to work there and to visit. Long may it survive!

Good luck,

Alan Rothwell

To have this fantastic and very accessible arts venue in the heart of a community is critical especially when it can act as a satellite for media city, the film festival, the Edinburgh Fringe and so much more! It also provides quality training in drama and the arts and the theatre is a great venue to exhibit local artists who aren’t eligible to exhibit at other arts venues in the city. I sincerely hope the Salford Arts Theatre has a long and healthy future, and I
will continue to support its existence in whatever way I can.
